Create media libraries from your favorite images, videos, and songs. Use the UPnP technology to stream your collection over your local network.
Philips Media Manager is a multimedia application aimed for easy and convenient management of media files on a PC. Using it you can easily create a media library with your favorite music, images and video. A new user interface will help you set-up Philips Media Manager easily. It is possible to define for each watch folder the type of content (audio, pictures, and video) that needs to be monitored. Also the speed of importing media files and creating thumbnails has been improved. The distinctive feature is support of UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) technology which simplifies the communication of devices connected into a network. Within minutes the Philips Media Manager is ready to stream content over your local network. Philips Media Manager uses Philips Streamium, a special device that acts as a mediator. Just insert the disc in your PC and the content becomes available on your device. This feature also works when you plug in a USB drive or memory stick. The streaming ability isn't perfect. The photo viewer is fine, but not many audio formats are currently supported, and you can't stream Internet radio stations. There is the ability to create playlists with several hundred mp3 tracks and then shuffle play.
The Philips Media Manager can run together with a wide variety of UPnP servers on one PC. However, it should not be installed together with SimpleCenter and/or the Home Media Server.
